Final Paper Checklist
This sheet should be attached to your final paper with check marks visible that you have checked your paper and that it follows the requirements.
□ Double-space your paper.
□ Use 12 point Times New Roman font.
□ Is the paper in APA style with in-text citations for everything quoted or paraphrased? i.e. (Haller, 2010) or if it needs a page number for a direct quote (Haller, 2010, p. 21). Punctuation like a period goes after the in-text citation. http://www.apastyle.org/learn/index.aspx
□ The 1,000-1,200-word paper should have a full reference list in alphabetical order and in APA style, with a minimum of 10 references. This includes the memoir; scholarly disability studies essays from Disability Studies Quarterly; materials from an activist disability blog or alternative disability media source; popular cultural representations; and news stories about a related disability topic (You may use up to 5 readings from the course readings).
□ The paper should include direct quotes or paraphrases from all 10 references with proper in-text citations.
□ Put the word count on the first page before the first paragraph. (This paper should be at least 1,000 words.)
□ Run spell and grammar check.
□ Please follow American spelling and punctuation style. American English style is to use double quotation marks and for all punctuation to go inside quote marks.
□ Italicize book titles.
□ Make sure your paper uses the memoir as a lens from which to compare and contrast popular cultural representations of disability in news, TV, film, etc.
□ Write about your personal reaction and reflection on the memoir and other articles you read. How did the memoir and media representations affect your view of disability?
